Die casting dies are getting larger, more complex and the heat treat processes being specified have increased stresses on the dies all resulting in more of a chance for the dies to crack. This course discusses some of the things machinists, heat treaters and engineers can do to lessen the likelihood of quench cracking during the heat treatment.This course, will also provide a short introduction to heat treatment and some of the heat treat specifications. The course will be useful to anyone who designs, machines and heat treats die casting dies.
